Fundraising is an important component of attending the Marine Program. The estimated cost of the program itself is $620 per person, which includes all food, lodging and programming on the Bamfield Science Centre site. Additional expenses include travel, ferry costs if applicable, and any additional food costs.
The Marine Program coordinators are currently working on securing funding from different organizations. However, it will be important for students and their teams to additionally work toward raising funds for their program expenses. Below are some fundraising ideas that have proven to be successful in past projects.
Approach your School District
Since the Bamfield Marine Science program aligns with our BC science core competencies, your first option should be to contact your school administrator to determine any funding availability and to earn class credits. In addition, if you have indigenous ancestry, you may be eligible to obtain funding from your district's Aboriginal Education Program. Again, please contact your school administrator for more information.
